Happy Three Years of Friendhsip*, Emily!
Three years ago, exactly to the day, we crossed paths for the first time. That day, we never even spoke. We just eyed each other from the side as we sat at that restaurant table. So much has happened since that day. We've cried, loved, hated, and most importantly, we've laughted all by the other's side. As I'm writing this, I'm walking down memory lane, day(night..?) dreaming of all the wonderful things that we have done together -- both the completely mundane and the wildly extraordinary. Just by becoming as close as we did, I was pushed to overcome my fears, try new and amazing things, and become a better verion of myself. I've watched you grow as a person, too, into the wonderful woman you are today (even if I hardly ever get to see you anymore...).
And on that, there are still so many things in store for us, Emily. I feel that so deeply. Our story isn't over, and while we can't be sure how that story is going to go, I know that we're meant to be writing it. You wouldn't be here otherwise, right?
Today's message has a lot less of a point than your birthday message. Maybe because of how tired I am. But just know there are so many things I want to say to you. There are so many jokes, anecdotes, and instagram reels I look forward to sharing with you each and every day. And while tonight, they are left unsaid, there will always be another August 14th that will allow me to say just a few more to you. So happy three year not-quite-friends-yet-iversary. Here's to so many more.
